Gynecomastia in Bodybuilders - Patient 23
Before and post-op photos of a 29 year old Manhattan, NY male who became frustrated with his Gynecomastia because he felt it was holding him back in his bodybuilding career. Gynecomastia develops as the result of an abnormal buildup of glandular tissue on top of the muscles of the male breast, resulting in an enlargement. After talking to several of his peers in the bodybuilding business, upon their recommendation he decided to consult with Dr. Blau, board certified plastic surgeon and a diplomat of the society of plastic surgeons. Dr. Blau is hailed world-wide as the leading authority in Gynecomastia surgery and is even a well-accomplished author on the subject. The patient was also impressed to learn that Dr. Blau is an award-winning painter and sculptor. The surgical procedure involved the excision of the head and tail of the glandular tissue. There was no need for liposuction and a drain was not required. Although the patient had to take it easy for the first few weeks and rest his muscles due to a risk of bleeding which can be a danger in bodybuilding, he was able to begin aerobic within two week, and continue with bodybuilding once he was healed. The patient is very satisfied with the outcome.
