Asymmetrical/Unilateral Gynecomastia - Patient 6
This is a 29 year old male from Manhattan, NY who began developing Unilateral Gynecomastia during early puberty. This is a condition that affects one third of Gynecomastia cases and occurs due to a build up of mammary tissue beneath one breast, resulting in the affected breast to be larger than the other breast. In this patient's case, the afflicted breast was twice the size of his other breast. He was so self-conscious about his condition that he refrained from removing his shirt in public places such as the local gym and the beach. He layered his clothing in order to conceal the condition. This brought him to Dr. Mordcai Blau, board certified plastic surgeon with over 20 years experience. The patient was pleased to learn that Dr. Blau is renowned world-wide as the leading authority in Gynecomastia surgery and also a well-accomplished author on the subject. A surgical procedure was performed on the right breast excising the mammary tissue along with a small amount of liposuction. No surgery was needed on the left breast. The patient was very satisfied with the outcome and felt liberated to be able to remove his shirt in public without embarrassment.
