Gynecomastia in Adolescents - Patient 38
Before and after photos of a 16 year old Fairfield County, CT male, who is 5'10 and 140 pounds was was suffering from Adolescent Gynecomastia This is a condition that develops due to a formation of mammary tissue beneath the male breast resulting in an enlargement of the breast. It can occur in 30% to 60% of adolescent boys between the ages of 8 and 12. In milder cases, the condition will dissolve by the age of 17, but in more severe or tubular cases, it will not resolve with maturity and will often be endured throughout life unless surgically corrected. The young man felt embarrassed by the appearance of his chest and was uncomfortable removing his shirt in school activities in which it was required. His parents became concerned for his welfare and contacted Dr. Mordcai Blau, board certified plastic surgeon and a diplomat of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. They were pleased to learn that Dr. Blau is respected as a leading authority world-wide in Gynecomastia and even a well-accomplished author on the subject. They were further impressed to learn that over 50% of Dr. Blau's practice is dedicated to the correction of the condition. Male breast reduction surgery was performed, excising the head and tail of the mammary tissue along with a small amount of liposuction. As can be seen in the before and after photos, there is a more masculine contour of the chest area. The young man is extremely happy with the results and his parents have noticed a new self-confidence in their son. Dr. Blau sees patients from across the country, such as Virginia Beach, VA, Charleston, SC and Portland, OR. Call 914-428-4700 to learn how to become a patient.
