Gynecomastia in Adolescents - Patient 36
Before and after photos of an 18 year old Brooklyn, New York City, NY male who is 6'2 and 160 pounds. He had been suffering from a severe case of Gynecomastia, a condition that occurs due to the abnormal formation of glandular tissue underneath the male breasts resulting in an enlargement. His condition began during adolescence and upon researching it, he discovered that 30% to 60% of adolescent boys experience Gynecomastia between the ages of 8 and 12. Although the milder cases will correct themselves with age, often by 17, more severe or tubular cases will not resolve with age. He felt self-conscious with the appearance of his chest and did not feel comfortable removing his shirt in public. He decided to consult with Dr. Blau, board certified plastic surgeon and a diplomat of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, because he learned that he is regarded world-wide as the utmost authority in Gynecomastia surgery and that over 50% of his practice is dedicated to the correction of the condition. The patient underwent male breast reduction surgery, excising the glandular tissue, along with liposuction. As can be seen in the post-op photos, the patient's chest is vastly improved and he has a more masculine contour in his chest. He is extremely happy with the outcome and would recommend Dr. Blau to any patient suffering from Gynecomastia.
