Gynecomastia in Adolescents - Patient 7
Before and after photos of an 18 year old, Suffolk County, Long Island, NY teenager who had been enduring Gynecomastia. This condition occurs due to the development of mammary tissue beneath the male breast resulting in an enlargement. As many as 30% to 60% of young boys will experience this condition during puberty and mild cases will often resolve themselves by 17 years of age. In more severe or tubular cases, such as in this patient's, the condition will not dissipate with age. The young man became extremely self-conscious about the appearance of his chest as he was constantly teased by his peers in activities in which he was required to remove his shirt, such as sports. After much research on the condition, he discussed the situation with his parents, who decided that corrective surgery was the best alternative. They consulted with Dr. Mordcai Blau upon learning of his superlative reputation as the top Gynecomastia surgeon. They were also happy to learn that more than 50% of his practice is dedicated to the correction of the condition and that he has performed hundreds of successful Gynecomastia surgeries on other boys with the same condition. Male breast reduction surgery was performed, excising the mammary tissue, along with liposuction. The patient is thrilled with the results and no longer feels embarrassed at the prospect of removing his shirt in public.
